Hamas leader escapes Israeli assassination bid
Hamas leader Abdul Aziz Rantissi has escaped an Israeli assassination attempt in Gaza City. The attempt killed an innocent passerby.

Well...so much for the PA trying to reach a ceasefire with Hamas and other groups. Israel apparently didn't care to see what would come of that. A true commitment on Israel's part to the "road map", and it is also indicative of a pattern of behavior that is well known by now: whenever there is any kind of serious movement on "peace" efforts, the Israeli government will do whatever it can to put an end to them.

UPDATE: Ha'aretz reports that 2 people - a mother and her daughter - were killed in the attack and 25 were wounded. The report adds that Bush has criticized the attack.
