42 US soldiers dead after Bush's "end of war" announcement
From the NY Times: 42 US soldiers have been killed in attacks and accidents since Bush declared the end of major operations on 1 May - "Loyalty Day". The article reports that 138 were killed in hostilities and accidents while the major fighting was still going on.So, since the end of "major fighting", one-third as many soldiers as were killed when "major fighting" was going on are now dead. Not a good start.
UPDATE: Make that 43 killed.
